Day 2 - Castles and Kuchen 8/5/25

Day 2 of our travels in Hohenschwangau

After getting a good nights sleep we had a nice breakfast at the (Alpenstuben) hotel where we are staying at before taking a hybrid horse driven carriage ride up most of the way to the castle. The weather was glorious, sunny and in the 70’s. The castle was never finished but very beautiful and we walked to the Marienbrucke (bridge) so we could gaze at her from many angles.

Tickets to the Neuschwanstein castle often sell out, so if you plan on visiting, make sure to buy tickets ahead of time. The tour was about an hour and tours are every 5 minutes so make sure you get there at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time. We had lunch at the Schlossrestaurant near the castle. Tom had beef burgundy with braised cabbage and Amy the wienerschnitzel with french fries, delicious! Then later after a nap we went to Hotel Muller restaurant for coffee and cake (kuchen) while admiring the beautiful mountains. Tomorrow we'll visit the Hohenschwangau castle!
